Displaying data in a geographic
context
Displaying data in a geographic
context is very easy if you use a GIS. The only thing
required is the appropriate digital map where you want to
display your data and the data itself.
By telling the GIS which
data-fields to use (from both your data-table and the
digital map) to associate the data with the geographic
entity - your work is infact already done.
After having defined the linking
keys you may already start clicking on the map and the
GIS will tell you the data behind the clicked geographic
entity. Often you can display summed up information of
multiple selected areas by pressing the -key while you
select the desired areas with a mouse-click.
