Database-Marketing Calculator
Calculating the
Confidence-Interval for a specific Response-Rate
When you have analyzed the
response-rate of your direct-mailing and you want to draw
conclusions out of the result, then you need to calculate
the confidence-interval for this particular samplesize of
the mailshot because you have to consider the random
variance that might have occured for this particular
sample.
The confidence-interval finally
allows you to draw conclusions like:
If the
response-rate for the sample of 2000 mailings was 5.5,
then with 95% you can be sure that the true response-rate
lies somewhere between 4.5% and 6.5%.
